The 2010 Tree and Shade Master Plan, Phoenix, Arizona's Urban Forest and Citizen Forester Program. The city of Phoenix is making efforts to plant trees in 'urban' (city) areas as a 'green' canopy to provide shade, beauty, a sense of peace, and a positive impact on the environment. Trees combat the Urban Heat Island Effect and global warming, and the forestry team and Arizona State University have partnered to illustrate that "financial, environmental, and social benefits of planting the right trees in the urban environment will greatly outweigh the cost of the tree planting and maintenance."
